Since 1995 Costain has carried out a series of term contracts with ADGAS for the overhaul of its process plants on Das Island.

Job Description

To manage the project in terms of site execution, sub contract management, procurement, engineering, planning and client relationship as a Deputy Project Manager.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

• To carry out specific project management tasks delegated to him by the Project Manager.

• To be responsible for supervision of project execution team based in the office and report to the Project Management on the day to day events / progress.

• To manage the contractual requirements on the project by liaising with the Commercial Manager and the Quantity Surveyor. Address variations / LD's / Change notes/ Invoicing and payments on the project.

• To assist the Project Manager in planning for adequate resources and in monitoring and reporting project/ design progress and man hour usage.

• To be appoint and evaluate sub contractor performance and report to the Project Manager on the progress of activities.

• To monitor procurement planning and ensure that all required material is available for smooth execution of project on site.

• To provide support to Construction/Commissioning Departments as required.

• To be aware of legal and organizational responsibilities with Company Policy & Health, Safety and Environmental issues with respect to employees, contractors, clients and third parties, ensuring that activities are managed in accordance with Company policy and Client requirements.

DIMENSIONS

As a Project Engineer you would be expected to perform the same function, see below, for the specific project assignment at the time of assignment. Details of the particular project will be advised prior to the assignment.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

Organizational ContextReports to the Project ManagerReporting responsibilities on projects include production of weekly/ monthly Engineering/ Construction / Sub-contract/ Procurement status reports for issue to the Project Manager.

A Project Engineer assigned to a project will be fully responsible for all aspects of the Engineering Procurement, Commercial, Sub contracts and Construction activities executed within the specific project(s); these responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Co-ordination of multi-discipline Construction and Design activities.

• Monitoring and management of man-hour and capital expenditure associated with the project with reference to the control estimate.

• Ensuring delivery of Construction & Design to the project schedule.

• Management of related risks to effective close out.

• Management of the scope and associated project change control.

• Providing clear reporting on Project performance.

• Interface on all technical issues with the client representatives

• Management of site technical queries

• Management of the production and issue of As Built documentation.

The project engineer will also be expected to participate in the produce of estimates for projects being bid by the Company, this involves:

• Review and understanding of the technical scope of the ITT

• Production of engineering strategy documents.

• Co ordination of the engineering input to the bid.

• Review and support of the engineering discipline estimates, man-hours and costs.

• Production of Project Engineering estimate and program

• Input and ownership of the engineering phase of the plan.

• Agreement with the project Manager on reporting time scales and formats.
