Costain¡¦s history on Das Island located 180 km from Abu Dhabi in the Arabian Gulf goes back to 1974 when it was involved in the development of the initial infrastructure in the island and numerous projects all over Das Island including design and construction of oil production facilities and erection and maintenance of LNG Trains. Since 1995 Costain has carried out a series of term contracts with ADGAS for the overhaul of its process plants on Das Island.

Job Description

PURPOSE OF JOB

To carry out estimating work in the estimating department.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITY

• Responsible for all aspects of HSE in the area of work and personnel working with him.

• Responsible for the complete Civil Estimate for all projects.

• Ensure that the backups of estimation are done on a regular basis.

• Ensure that the security and confidentiality procedures for estimates are consistently enforced.

• Preparation and upkeep of budgetary documentation.

DIMENSIONS

• All projects and changes within the projects will be estimated through the Proposals Department.

• To develop close working relationship with all levels of Management and other employees working in the offices.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

Organizational Context

• Reports to the Commercial Manager

Contacts

• The job holder has contact with a number of people outside the company for supply and information requirements.

• He communicates internally with all levels of staff.

Decision Making Authority

• The job holder is required to evaluate and recommend the best construction methods possible and to seek assistance from both the Operations Department as well as other outside construction agencies as required.

Problems and Challenges

• The ability to prioritize work loads.

• The ability to allocate time to best effect.

• The ability to work under pressure and without direct supervision.

Education

Basic - Bachelor of Technology/Engineering ( Civil )
