Job Description



  • Manage the BMC Implementation on all platforms.

  • Enterprise Monitoring using BMC tools.

  • Enhance the availability and performance of Servers on distributed Business Section..

  • Ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of services to all support staff and users.

  • Notify and escalate any events accordingly to owners within agreed time frame.


Key functions of the BMC Systems Administrator role will include the following:



  • Hand on Experience on BMC Patrol Agents, BMC Patrol KM*s, Patrol 7, Patrol Configuration Manager, Distribution Server, BMC Patrol Portal, and the BMC Event Manager.

  • Responsible for rollout of BMC Patrol, BMC Event Manager and knowledge modules

  • Manage and maintain large BMC Patrol 7 Architecture implementation

  • Integration of Events from other BMC Sources into BMC Event Manager

  • Integration of Events from SNMP Sources into BMC Event Manager

  • Integration of Events from BMC Event Manager to Alarm Point, Remedy, SMS and Email gateway

  • Troubleshoot pre and post BMC installations and PATROL Components Configurations

  • Perform configuration for various monitoring solutions, and Customize default values and threshold according user requirements.

  • Administer using Distribution Server and Patrol Configuration manager.

  • Test new versions of agents and knowledge modules through SDLC cycle.

  • Provide documentation on installing, troubleshooting and configuring of BMC products.

  • Understanding of the RT-Cloud and its setup.

  • Work with users to ensure events are being managed properly.

  • Definition and implementation of end-to-end monitoring scripts in collaboration with system owners using BMC ART / TMART

  • Monitoring and Analyzing System Performance of CPU, Memory and Peripherals using PATROL Performance Manage.

  • Writing specific knowledge modules based on the Patrol Scripting Language.

  • Operation, maintenance and support of the BMC patrol monitoring infrastructure, the associated alerting system Alarm Point and Opening Incident tickets in to Remedy.

  • Incident handling with respect of targeted resolution times through usage of corporate incident management tool.

  • Consult and train users on the installed BMC products.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent training or work experience.
  • Understanding of customer’s business operations.
  • Knowledge of systems applications delivery tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of database structure.
  • Understanding of WebSphere application, MQ, VERITAS products, and Hardware KM.
  • Experience with tools and utilities for UNIX and Windows platform.
  • 2 + years Hands on administration of BMC Systems management tools.
  • 2 + years experience with BMC Knowledge Modules such as Oracle, Internet Services, MQ Series, BMC Patrol Central Architecture, BMC Patrol Configuration Manager, BMC Distribution Server, BMC Service Impact Manager, Patrol Event Manager, BMC Perform/Predict
  • Knowledge of Distribution server, BMC ProactiveNet, BEM and SIM
  • Experience with shell scripting or any programming language.
  • Experience with PSL or Perl
  • Experience with Solaris 10 zones, and System Virtualization a plus
  • Experience with Oracle a plus
  • Strong Documentation and Verbal Communication.
  • Any BMC Certification a plus
  • Understanding of Batch Job process, Unix and Wintel commands
  • Understanding Network Topology and in particular on SNMP, IP addressing, Proxy setup, and Firewall rules set.
